The Raptors played out of their skins last year but their relatively young roster will be pushing even further this year.
Signing shooting guard DeMar DeRozen on a five year deal at $139,000,000 was the Raptors biggest deal of the off season. Keeping him in Toronto will add that midrange game they would other wise have lost.
Their number 10 pick got them centre Jakob Poltl and the Austrian should go straight into the back-up centre position offering support to Jonas Valanciunas. 20 year old Poltl impressed last year at college and averaged over one block a game, 17.3 points per game and nine rebounds.
After the Raptors lost Bismack Biyombo to the Magic taking Poltl is a clever move, a strong paint protector is just what they needed.
The Raptors also added power forward Jared Sullinger on a single year contract who will add immediate offence and defence to a roster which just keeps improving.
Watch out for – Cory Joesph – good backup
The Raptors will be hoping to push the deeper into the Eastern Conference this year as they add yet more depth and good options.
