The Mavericks are a side that have improved under the radar this offseason.
After waiting patiently the 46th pick belonged to the Mavs and they took A.J. Hammons out of Purdue.
The seven footer could make for a very good back up centre, if his mind is in the right place. There was a lot of debate that his mindset wasn’t ‘correct’ which limited his draft position. His talent is unquestionable, he averaged 10 points and 2 blocks in 23 minutes last year.
The Mavericks biggest free agency addition was signing Harrison Barnes on a four year contract worth $95,000,000.
Barnes boasts a championship ring and he is a good scoring option – despite his terrible finals last year in which he shot 29% and just nine points per game.
During the regular season Barnes shot 40% when the pressure was off.
As well as adding Barnes the Mavericks added guard Seth Curry to their roster who is an even bigger shooting threat. He will stand in his brother’s, Steph, shadow but Seth shoots an impressive percentage of 45%.
Watch out for – Dwight Powell – good defence
As Dirk Nowitzki declines youngsters Curry and Barnes will pave the way to a bright future.
