Oklahoma City Thunder
A horrible offseason can only be made better by reminding OKC fans that they still have Russell Westbrook on their roster.
After loosing Kevin Durant to title rivals Golden State Warriors and bringing in no significant replacement OKC fans can’t be happy.
Their draft day wasn’t all bad. They gained Domantas Sabonis, Victor Oladipo and Ersan Ilaysova in return for a declining Serge Ibaka.
Sabonis is a power forward out of Gonzaga University. The 20 year old is a very good rebounder and good scoring option in the post. What he boasts on offence he may lack on defence, Sabonis averages under a block a game in college and under 0.5 steals per game.
Perhaps the addition of athletic rising point guard, Oladipo, points towards Westbrook’s departure when his contract expires or via trade.
As time ran out in free agency OKC turned to Alex Abrines who was the 32nd pick in the 2013 draft. OKC are adding a major perimeter threat, Abrines shoots over 41% from three point.
Watch out for – Cameron Payne – good defence
For a roster in a transition period, a season full of dark clouds may only be made better by Russell Westbrook’s silver lining.
