30 in 30 – Knicks

New York Knicks

The Knicks didn’t have a draft pick this June and instead chose to focus heavily on free agency and trades.

Their main summer acquisition was Chicago Bulls point guard Derrick Rose. In return the Bulls got Jose Calderon, Jerian Grant and Robin Lopez.

The Knicks have their triangle that they have been waiting for. Carmelo Anthony and Kristaps Porzingis were already creating a good partnership last year and the addition of an healthy DRose and the Knicks may be sorted. All three are stars on each end of the court.

The addition of Rose’s old team mate and centre Joakim Noah adds some more good defence but he is limited on offence. Adding guards Courtney Lee and Brandon Jennings were clever moves. But after the players named, where does the scoring come from?

Guillermo Hernangómez had a good Olympics but the games aren’t really similar physically or mentally. Marshall Plumlee joins the Knicks as their third centre and will probably stay in the shadow of his NBA brothers Mason and Miles.

Watch out for – Guillermo Hernangómez – young Pau Gasol.

The Knicks finally have their starting five but will struggle with bench scoring in another frustrating year.
