The Magic dropped a draft day surprise by trading an upcoming guard, Victor Oladipo, scorer Ersan Ilyasova and their lottery pick for power forward Serge Ibaka.
Ibaka is a good scorer and averages around 12 points per game and seven rebounds.
The trade resulted in the Magic having just the 41st pick where they would select centre Stephen Zimmerman, he is a future starter with a seven foot frame. Zimmerman already contains a well rounded game but has much more to do to get that starting birth.
Their offence may not be outstanding but their defence could push the Magic to the playoffs. Their new head coach, Frank Vogel, is one of the best defensive coaches and having two defensive minded centres, Bismack Biyombo and Nikola Vucevic, means that they will have paint domination on the court at all times.
On the offensive side, the Magic have numerous scoring players, Mario Hezonja has good range, Aaron Gordon can score from anywhere and their centres will get points.
Watch out for – Elfrid Payton – good passer.
They lack cutting edge in the guard positions but there is enough quality through out and a good head coach to push the Magic.
