On the surface I am surprised to see the Kings so low down, but when you dig beneath the surface there is no real surprise.
Their draft was strange, they took centre Georgios Papagiannis at number 13 when they had three centres under contract. The Kings also selected Malachi Richardson whom is a talented scorer but lacks quality on defence. Kings also got the rights to Skal Labissiere from Pheonix, the forward dropped to the 28th pick due to a recurring injury.
Their free agency was a nightmare too. They lost their creativity. Rajon Rondo left to join the Chicago Bulls, the point guard averaged over 11 assists and points per game. Another guard would leave the Kings as Seth Curry left for Dallas, his breakthrough year saw him average over six points and a lot of highlight plays on both ends of the court.
Their biggest deal saw guard Arron Afflalo join on a two year contract, he has been a go to scorer all this career.
Watch out for – Willie Cauley-Stein – paint threat.
The Kings have an amazing front court but lack creativity, their star centre is maverick and won’t like being pushed out to power-forward.
